As we told you earlier, we have a very special program Friday — special in two ways. First, we have “Tunnel Rat” C.W. Bowman speaking again about his experiences in Vietnam at a Relic Room Noon Debrief.
Second, the free lecture will be in a brand-new location — Cayce-West Columbia Branch of Lexington County Public Library at 1500 Augusta Road in West Columbia.
We joined C.W. himself earlier this week as he checked out the new venue, and we’re confident it should be an enjoyable and educational experience for all who come out.
And with the library promoting the event so prominently on their end, we’re hopeful about seeing a few new people, along with our faithful regulars.
Looking ahead, we’ll be at the West Columbia location for a second time on May 30, when Kim Stacy will speak — clad in a British redcoat uniform — about the Battle of Camden. And on September 12, our own Ben Battiste will deliver his program about the History of the M16, which was so well received at Richland Library last month.
By the way, this new venue doesn’t mean we’re not going to Richland anymore. In fact, we have plans for programs there in both June and July. Today’s program is an addition to our efforts to take fascinating stories about military history out the world. We hope in the next few months to resume presenting Noon Debriefs in the Education Room of the museum itself, but even then, we’re likely to continuing having offsite programs. They’re enjoyable, and they give us the chance to share South Carolina’s military heritage with an ever-wider audience.
Come on out and join us at noon Friday, and make plans to do so in the future. We can’t wait to see you…
